Together We Can Make Dreams Come True.
Sri. S.S. Natesa Iyer, a philanthropist, founded the Semmangudi Higher Secondary School, a Tamil-medium educational institution, in 1958. The school was named after famed Carnatic musician Sri. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer to address the inadequacy of educational possibilities for girls in the village. There were ten students when the school first opened (five boys and five girls). The management asked Swami Dayananda Educational Trust (SDET) to take over the school in 2004 since they couldn’t keep up with the demands of such a massive project. They were satisfied after seeing SDET’s work in Manjakkudi that the Trust would be able to deliver value-added advancements to the school. SDET attempted to enhance the school’s infrastructure after taking over. Older buildings were renovated, new structures were built, and well-equipped science and computer labs were constructed. The pledge that every child who wanted to study would be admitted to the school was at the center of it all. Students from Manjakkudi and 35 surrounding villages began to attend the school as the standard of education grew year after year. 45 percent of our students are first-generation college students.
